A fantastic unexpected win

“We played really well. The Dutch are well known for their strength in the offensive but for some reason that didn’t show. It’s a surprising win but you could tell we’d been preparing for them for a while. We demonstrated a solid performance and therefore deserved a little bit of luck, too,” stated Petr.
It was Dočkal who secured the Czechs’ lead in the first half, however the Dutch team managed to equalise shortly after half-time. “They certainly started pushing after that but once we’d survived the next 20 minutes I became confident that we’d manage to keep it up. It’s great that we were able to take it even one step further. It may have been a pretty lucky second goal but who really cares anyway. We got three points which is an awesome start but that’s no excuse for euphoria. The qualification stage has only just begun and there’s a plenty of games ahead of us,” added Petr.
