A Fantastic Victory
The Blues beat Manchester United 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the 22nd round of the Premier League; all thanks to Cameroonian striker Eto’o. “Samuel was amazing,” stated Petr.
“It was possibly his best game for Chelsea yet. After two years in Russia where football’s a lot different than here, he needed to acclimatise a bit. Due to his immense talent, diligence and experience, though, he’s better than ever now. You can tell he’s still a major asset to the team. He’s been outdoing himself lately and I’m happy for him. He’s a cool guy who’s come a long way in his career. He’s thrilled to be finally playing world-class football again,” said Petr. The entire team congratulated Samuel on his hat-trick after the match. “It’s a tradition for anyone who scores a hat-trick to keep the ball. We all signed it, of course,” he added.
Chelsea thus acquired another three points. “Both teams really strived for a win. Our opponent needed to climb up in the table a bit whereas we wanted to stay within reach of its top. The tension was palpable,” said Petr.
“United seemed to have a bit of a rolling start, as it were, though we managed to suppress them and scored in moments where it looked like they were crushing us. When we added a third goal after the interval we knew we’d sealed the result. They put up a decent fight after that, too, but we wouldn’t budge” described Petr.
In the 70th minute he was forced to perform a rather hazardous stunt when he failed to control a back-pass and had to hook the ball away from Hernandez in the last second. “I got a back-pass and I was going to backheel the ball away but Chicharito was too quick, which is why I was forced to resort to that desperate move and hope for the best. In the end it all worked out just fine,” Petr recalled.
Chelsea continues to occupy the third spot in the table, losing two points on Arsenal and a single point on City. “It’s unusually even at the moment. It’s all going to unravel when we finally play each other. We also need to make sure not to lose precious points in games against weaker opponents. It’s all in now,” concluded Petr.
