A spectacular comeback
Petr returned to his post in the goal in Saturday's game against Stoke for the first time since his groin injury and managed to walk away with a clean sheet. The Blues won 4-0.
"It was a good comeback. We won even though it wasn't an easy match. They hadn't lost at home at this season yet, so we're duly satisfied. We're back in the third place because Tottenham drew," said Petr.
He got on well during the game, with no signs of previous injuries. "I knew I would be able to play on the day before already, unless something would change dramatically. I'm glad I could finish the game without any troubles."
After a lengthy break also John Terry donned the Blues' jersey and was subbed in for the last 15 minutes. "It's nice to have him back on the pitch. During the week he'd played in a game for the reserve team and he'll be very much needed in the large amount of games ahead of us," Petr pointed out. This time it was Chelsea's central defender Gary Cahill who was forced to leave the line-up. "He left at four in the morning because his wife was going into labour. He's got a new-born son now," revealed Petr.
As if the game hadn't been extraordinary enough, Stoke's Jonathan Walters scored two unfortunate own goals. "On top of that, he even missed a penalty towards the end. It must have been all the worse as it was his hundredth Premier League match. Football can be cruel though and even these things happen sometimes. He tried to intercept a cross twice and somehow the ball always wound up in the goal. It helped us a lot, of course, mainly the one right before half-time," added Petr.
