Petr have another fantastic performance in a pre-season friendly game. Having previously played in Australia, the Gunners beat Bayern Munich in China, after a penalty shoot-out. The match originally ended at 1-1.
The game took place in immense heat with temperatures reaching 37 degrees. "It was also extremely humid, which was even worse than the heat itself. It was like playing in steam," said Petr.
He featured in the starting line-up as captain and performed several spectacular saves – such which must at times have brought the opponents to sheer desperation.
"It was the first game of the China tour and it surely put us to a test. It's good we had some extra time and managed to equalise," Petr referred to Iwobi's header during stoppage time.
As agreed, Petr featured for the first 70 minutes and was then substituted by Martinez. "I'm happy with my performance. I was pretty busy and got some decent saves in. It proved I'm actually in good shape, which is important," stated Petr.
"It was exciting football on both sides. Both teams managed to cope well with the heat and humidity. Our younger teammates got the chance to have a go against a top club and did great, which I was really happy about," added Petr.
