Christmas cannonade
The Blues certainly savoured thrashing Aston Villa 8-0 at Stamford Bridge a day before Christmas Eve.
Chelsea thus repeated their record of the number of goals shot in one game which they had first set in 2010 against Wigan. It could have been 9-0, however Piazon failed to score a penalty kick in his Premier League debut toward the end of the match.
"I'm happy the game worked out this way, particularly because our opponent's been doing well this season. Their team is overall young though. You could notice that once we'd scored a couple of quick goals they were no more able to put up a fight. On top of that we went on to further increase the pace and added more goals. It's nice to see that we improve with every game and we're becoming more consistent," praised Petr who had managed to retain a clean sheet. "The opponent wasn't too much of a threat but one shouldn't use focus. It paid off in the end, I saved one of their most dangerous goal chances," he commented on Weimann's attack. The Blues' captain Lampard, who was enjoying his 500th game in the Premier League, contributed with one goal.
Petr was thrilled with the perfect pre-Christmas result. "I'm sure we'll all enjoy the holidays now and I wish the same to you, as well. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year."
