“I’m mostly glad we won, another clean slate is just a nice bonus on top,” said Petr. “We didn’t start the game as we were supposed to—our passing was off and it took a while before we got in the groove of things. At half time we reminded each other that we still had 45 minutes to do something about that.” Petr explained.
The Gunners, specifically Giroud, struck immediately after the break in 49th minute. “That was the moment the match took a definite turn. The hosts had to open it up a bit more and we had a lot more room for counterattacks. We added another goal at the right moment, which definitively took the wind out of their sails,” said Petr.
He had a number of crucial moments himself. “Sigurdsson’s shot was particularly threatening and the moment in which Bellerin and myself denied Gomis’s scoring chance,” Petr described.
He deeded this victory to be the best redemption for Arsenal’s disqualification from the Capital One Cup. “We’re doing good in the league and it’s nice we managed to follow up on our previous results. We’ve remained on our successful streak and stayed right behind Manchester City. Arsenal had also lost six points in matches with Swansea last season, so it’s fantastic to have broken that trend."
