Everything's open
Chelsea lost their first Europa League R16 game against Steaua Bucharest 0-1, after a very strictly given penalty decided the result in the first half.
Petr was able to predict the direction of the shot and he was inches away from deflecting Ruscescu's strike out and away. "What can you do. The penalty decided the entire match, otherwise our opponent didn't really put up too much of a fight. There were too shots but those weren't particularly threatening. We were the more dangerous team and managed to get more chances and shots it; unfortunately we didn't get the most out of it," admitted Petr after the match.
He believes Chelsea will nevertheless secure advancement at home, "A 1-0 defeat may not be the ideal result and too bad we didn't score at least once, but we've managed to reverse even worse scores in the past. Therefore, I wouldn't worry too much. Everything's open, if we manage to perform better in the rematch I'm positive we can still advance."
The Blues will be hosted by Manchester United at Old Trafford this Sunday in the FA Cup quarter-finals. "It's going to be yet another challenging game in our crammed schedule. Succeeding would be the best way of redeeming our defeat in Buchasrest," added Petr.
