"Our opponent only needs to win 2-0 in order to advance further but I'm convinced we'll score first and seize control. We're not a team that waits around to see what happens. We're determined to win this," stated Petr.
A different style of game play than that at Stamford Bridge is to be expected from Kazan. "Similarly, they've also got to play full-out instead of waiting for breakaways. It's not easy to comeback from 1-3 but it can be done, see for example our Premier League game against Napoli. In any case we're not going to let Kazan get even close to pulling off something similar," said Petr.
The match will take place on artificial grass. "Last time we were here was back in 2010 under manager Ancelotti, we were playing Spartak in the Champions League," recalled Petr. "Artificial grass is an unusual surface but we're professionals and should be able to deal with it. This season we only trained on it twice when it was snowing outside. We didn't even train on it prior to our departure, so we'll see how it feels during our pre-match practice," revealed Petr.
According to Petr it is mainly your ankles and knees which are exposed to an increased amount of strain on artificial grass. "Besides it makes my back sore, too. But I'm sure there won't be any problems. It's not Kazan's home stadium either, so they won't be in an overly advantageous position anyway. On top of that we're pretty popular in Russia so we're going to get a lot of support from not only our English fans, but our Russian fans, as well."
