Petr Back in Goal but Regretting Loss of Points
Petr has returned back into the Arsenal goal for the first time since the Swansea game on 2 March during the course of which he injured his calf. His team had come within reach of the win in the duel with Crystal Palace, however the opponents scored in the 82nd minute from one of their scarce attacks, thus leaving the score at 1-1.
“It’s a wasteful loss, we wanted to win. We had enough chances, but instead of adding another goal for the peace of mind we allowed Crystal Palace to equalise. They were basically just waiting for a free kick and breakaways, one of which eventually succeeded,” Petr regretted the result.
In fact, he all but saved Bolasie’s shot to the post. “As Gabriel was trying to block the strike, the ball rubbed on him and got diverted. I was stretching myself as much as I could and was able to touch the ball, but didn’t manage to squeeze the ball out,” Petr described.
The Gunners are now in the fourth spot of the table, behind Manchester City with the same amount of points, albeit a better score. “Thanks to the fact that we’ve caught up with City as far as points are concerned, the fight for the leading places has suddenly gotten a lot more dramatic. All we can do now is to focus on the remaining games, try to win them, and see where that gets us,” added Petr.
The Gunners are next to face West Bromwich whom they will host on Thursday.
