Petr sets new record by winning Footballer of the Year award once again

"I am very honoured and truly speechless. Ivo Viktor is a top-notch Czech football legend and even players like Pavel Nedved, a Golden Ball holder, won the poll no more than four times," said Petr while he was receiving the award at the ceremony in Prague. His victory was unequivocal; defender Theo Gebre Selassie placed second by 410 points.
Petr was well aware that Chelsea's 'king of European football' title that Petr and the team had acquired last May was a substantial contribution to this success. "It's unusual for goalkeepers to win polls like these, but this time they apparently turned their attention to the goal," he admitted.
Petr arrived at the announcements with a broken little finger, an injury he sustained in the Newcastle game. Notwithstanding, he seemed to have forgotten all about this when he was playing the drums at the end of the ceremony. "It didn't really matter, drum sticks don't require a whole lot of grip. I enjoyed playing, it was a nice distraction," stated Petr.
