Petr's 400th game for Chelsea spoilt by a groin injury
Petr was not able to finish his jubilee match. Blues may have beaten Everton 2-1, however Petr injured one of his leg adductor muscles at the end of the first half and was forced to withdraw.
How did you hurt yourself?
Around the 40th minute I was just leaping up to intercept a cross when I felt sharp pain in my right groin. I finished the first half knowing I wouldn't be able to continue. We'll see how bad it turns out to be. We'll know more after some treatment which I'm going to receive tomorrow.
Did you watch the second half on TV at least?
Our physiotherapists took me under their wings right away. There was no TV in the changing rooms so I only saw the last five minutes. The main thing we won, though.
Your substitute Ross Turnbull must have found himself in quite difficult circumstances, having been sent into all the turmoil as unexpectedly as he was.
I had faith in him. He's very dilligent and he's been training well. He saved a goal chance and even though the opponent managed to hit the crossbar later, we very much had the game under control. It was a crucial win. We started off badly and Everton managed to build up a lot of pressure but failed to put it to good use. I'm really happy considering the fact that we hadn't been doing well against Everton. We hadn't won against them for ages in the League.
What are you going to remember from your 400th game for Chelsea?
It got a little ruined because of the injury but I did help the team a several times during the first half. We won a game that hadn't started well for us. Also the fact that we acquired three points is far more important than the fact that I pulled my groin.
Is the 400th jubilee a milestone to you?
It's not easy to play that number of matches for one of the best clubs in the world. It's quite an exciting number. I'm the only foreigner to achieve that amount and I happen to be the twelveth player in the club's history itself to reach it; not to forget that the number's still counting.
What number are you aiming for then?
You can't exactly plan that. My contract's valid through 2016 and unless something happens in the meanwhile, there will be a lot more games.
Did you keep your jersey as a souvenir at least?
I don't have it. I noticed a disabled Chelsea fan in a wheel chair, so I gave it to him.
