Premiere in Bucharest
For the first time in his career Petr will get to play in Bucharest. Tomorrow he is to help Chelsea face the home team Steaue in the first game of the Europa League round of 16.
"We certainly don't expect it to be a walk in the park. They're a dangerous opponent who's got a lot of experience in European cups. In the last round they demonstrated their strength when they eliminated Ajax. Their first match in the Netherlands didn't go great but they rectified that in the rematch at home. They got rid of the two goal deficit and advanced after a penalty shoot-out. This shows just how important it is that we don't underestimate them, especially when they're playing at home," stated Petr.
Petr has never been to Bucharest before. "I only played in Constanta a couple of years ago with the national team and then in Cluj with Chelsea. This time we'll be playing at the brand new national stadium in Bucharest where the Europa League finals took place last year, so I'm pretty excited," said Petr.
The players are all in positive frame of mind according to Petr. "We won the last game and it'd be nice if we managed to win here in Romanie, as well," he pointed out before the match.
The fact that the Blues have been on an incredibly tight schedule with this Sunday's FA Cup game against Manchester United ahead of them is not a matter of great concern at the moment. "There's no way we can afford to worry about Mancherster before we've dealt with this important Europa League game. We've got to take it step by step because every match matters. It is up to the manager to think ahead, the rest just focuses on the next game," revealed Petr.
