Qualification draw: We’re in an even group

“I didn’t wish for any specific opponents. The only one I wanted to avoid was Kazakhstan because it takes eight hours to fly there. Serves me right, I guess… We need to deal with that, though, you can’t be too picky with these things,” said Petr.
He deems the Netherlands to be the favourite of Group A. “But generally I think the group’s pretty even. The Dutch qualified for the World Cup and will therefore be the favourites on the paper. Turkey, Island or us Czechs ought to try and seize the direct qualification from them. I’m sure all the teams in our group are determined to try and get to the next phase. There’s also no point deliberating on whether or not the other groups would have been more favourable for us. If we want to take part in the Euro, we need to be able cope with this challenge."
