“We’re playing at home and that we need to put to good use. I’m sure we will, though, which should lift our spirits after our last failure in the League,” said Petr.
“1-1 in the first game leaves things quite open for the rematch. We cannot let them score first. Therefore we’re going to be defending vigorously while we try and be the ones to take the lead,” stated Petr.
The upcoming match will be like no other for Petr’s former teammate Didier Drogba, who is to return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since 2012. “It might be a bit of a peculiar situation for him and the fans. I’m convinced he’ll get a warm welcome, though, everyone used to love him here.”
With the season reaching its final stage, fatigue has befallen some of the more active Chelsea players. “There really has been a lot of consecutive games. You need to try and devote some time for regeneration. Then it’s also important to have a large squad so that the burden can be distributed among several players- especially when someone gets injured or ordered off,” admitted Petr who this season has the most appearances (47) out of all Chelsea players. “I still feel pretty good. I’ve been training diligently plus this isn’t the first time I’ve had to play this often.”
