Six goals against Arsenal!
Stamford Bridge witnessed a breathtaking derby yesterday. The Blues thrashed Arsenal 6-0 and Petr retained his 14th clean sheet in the Premier League this season.
“This was a six-point game and it couldn’t have gone better for us. We were all over the moon but there’s no reason to celebrate yet. There’s plenty of games left till the end of the season,” stated Petr.
His most crucial save of the match came right at the beginning when he averted Giroud’s seemingly definitive scoring opportunity. Chelsea then went on to score twice within three minutes. “Arsenal conceded twice instead of taking the lead, which absolutely crushed them. Of course that boosted our morale. When we then scored another from a penalty and there was suddenly only ten of them, we knew we’d won,” Petr referred to a point in the game where Gibbs was dismissed despite the fact that it was Oxlade-Chamberlain who had played with his hand. Hazard then put the penalty kick to good use.
At half-time we left for the changing rooms with four goals on our account. “We did our best in the second half, too. We made sure we didn’t underestimate our opponents and added two more goals instead,” described Petr.
After the match he exchanged jerseys with national team teammate Tomas Rosicky. “He did quite well and was one of Arsenal’s biggest threats. Of course he was a bit disappointed, though,” added Petr.
