“The match was pretty intensive and varied on both sides. We seemed to have the upper hand during the first half and could have taken the lead, but our opponents’ goalie warded off all of our scoring chances,” Petr described.
"Then the pressure switched sides. The hosts started to define the pace and got their own scoring opportunities. The fact that we didn't concede was important - the single point ended up being a pretty decent result for both teams considering the development of the game. Especially since they beat both Manchester clubs as well as Chelsea at home. Plus Arsenal have been really unlucky in Stoke for a long time now," said Petr.
He performed several admirable saves during the game and was certainly the centre of attention within the team. In the 56th minute he successfully dealt with both Josel's challenge and Krkic's attempted tip-in. "It was essential that I push him to the side and return as fast as possible for the rebound shot," Petr described.
His key save came in the 90th minute after clearing the ball away from Josel's reach. "There was a ton of people around and I couldn't see much. I also needed to clear the ball without hitting someone standing in the way. All in all I'm pretty happy both with our performance and the result," Petr added.
He was also pleased with his 172nd clean slate. "I always maintain it's better to win 2-1 without keeping a clean sheet, but I'm okay with the draw this time. And the clean sheet. This one point has enabled to lead the table which is exactly where we want to be."
