Thriller story turned to happy end
Chelsea have reached the Champions League semi-final after home draw 4-4 with Liverpool. The Blues will face Barcelona in the next tie of the knock-out phase.
But it was not an easy way. Aurelio struck in the opener after the mistake of PETR CECH on 19 minutes and Xabi Alonso added a second from the spot.
Coach Hiddink sent on the pitch Anelka instead of Kalou and the display began to change just after the break. Drogba forced Reina to concede on 51 minutes and Alex amazing free-kick levelled the score.
Lampard even got the Blues ahead after 76 minutes and the progress seemed certain at this moment.
However, two quick goals of Lucas and Kuyt turned the score over again and the blue advance was threatened until Lampard grabbed his second to make it 4-4 on 89 minutes.
"I made a mistake, I focused on the cross and stepped forward and I was not able to get back to save the shot at the moment," said the Czech goalie about the first goal.
"It was difficult for me in that way that I had to concentrate more to precede other mistakes. Sometimes you can do your best but everything fails at once," added Pete.
The first leg of the tie with Barcelona wil take place on April, 28 in Spain, the second leg at Stamford Bridge is set on May, 6.
