Two-hundredth clean sheet for Chelsea
Petr reached a major milestone in Monday's goalless draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Namely, he kept his 200th Chelsea clean sheet.
"It's quite the number, a real milestone, indeed. I'm glad I'm only the second goalkeeper in the club's history to have achieved that. What pleases me the most, though, is the fact that me clean sheets have helped the team to quite a few trophies," he added.
Petr might keep his jersey to remember the game by. "It'll be nice to remind myself of this achievement when I start evaluating my career one day," stated Petr who then went on to reminisce about his very first Chelsea clean sheet. "It was in 2004, when I first started over here. What's particularly funny is that it was also under manager Mourinho's guidance and in a game against Manchester United, as well. It was my first Premier League game for Chelsea and we won 1-0. You could say it all worked out pretty well."
Petr was quite content with the draw this time. "Obviously on a larger scale it would have been better to win 2-1 than to keep a clean sheet but the result is fair at the very least. The game was very tactical; none of the teams had a lot of scoring opportunities and the draw was well deserved on both sides," admitted Petr.
